During pregnancy, your mare’s body undergoes significant changes to accommodate the growing foal, which can lead to widespread body pains and muscle discomfort. The physical demands of delivering the foal also cause muscle strain, soreness, and inflammation.

You can help Mama heal her baby-body with massage.
Massage can alleviate body soreness by soothing sore, stressed muscles and promoting blood flow to the affected areas, boosting the delivery nutrients and oxygen to the tissues to aid in recovery and the removal of metabolic waste products.
Massage can also reduce stress and anxiety in mares, which can be particularly beneficial during the postpartum period when mares may experience hormonal fluctuations and changes in behavior.
By reducing the body pain, muscle discomfort and stress your Mama mare experiences, and improving her overall wellbeing, you can in turn help support the health and development of your foal.

* Please note – Mares that have foaled recently should ONLY receive a massage after consultation with your Veterinarian. This is especially important if your mare has had any health issues or experienced any complications following delivery. A post-pregnancy and delivery massage should only be performed by a trained and experienced equine massage therapist.
